Additional information

Issued to mark the point at which Elizabeth II surpassed Victoria as Britain's longest-reigning monarch — a threshold crossed on 9 September 2015 — this Gibraltar piece appeared the following year as part of a wave of commemorative silver from the Crown Dependencies and Overseas Territories that collectively flooded the market around that date. Gibraltar has issued coins under royal warrant since 1842, though modern collector issues of this type are struck by the Pobjoy Mint or similar contractors rather than any facility on the Rock itself.
