Beschrijving voorzijde Right-facing crowned effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, as designed by Raphael David Maklouf, wearing the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland tiara and a pearl drop earring with a pearl necklace partially visible. The portrait is rendered in high relief against a deeply mirrored proof field. The legend ELIZABETH II arcs along the upper left periphery and GIBRALTAR along the upper right, with the date 2009 at the lower right. The engraver's initials RDM appear in small relief below the truncation of the bust. The design is framed by a continuous border of raised beads.

Beschrijving keerzijde The reverse depicts a dramatic side-profile view of the Concorde 001 prototype aircraft in flight against a dark, mirror-polished field, conveying speed and technological achievement. Above the aircraft, an incuse rectangular plaque carries the inscription CONCORDE 001(FWTSS) / MACH 1.05=760MPH, recording the technical data of the historic supersonic milestone. Below the aircraft, a second incuse rectangular tablet bears the date OCT / 1 / 1969, commemorating the exact date of the first supersonic flight. To the right of this tablet, the numeral 40 appears in vivid red color, marking the 40th anniversary of the event. The peripheral legend FIRST SUPERSONIC FLIGHT OF CONCORDE arcs along the upper and lateral borders, with FIVE POUNDS inscribed along the lower arc.
