| Reverse description | Cruciform arrangement of the four crowned shields of arms representing England, Scotland, Ireland, and France, disposed in the quarters of the design in the manner of Thomas Simon's celebrated 1663 Petition Crown. Interlinked letter C monograms are placed in each angle between the shields, referencing the reign of Charles III. The date 1663 is divided above the central intersection in homage to the original design, while the Garter motto HONI SOIT QUI MAL Y PENSE encircles the composition. The outer legend · MAG BRI · FR ET · HIB REX · runs around the periphery, completing the heraldic programme in the tradition of seventeenth-century English milled coinage. |
