George Waterston & Sons printed for Bank of Scotland throughout much of the twentieth century from their Edinburgh operation — one of the few cases where a major Scottish bank's notes were produced domestically rather than by Bradbury Wilkinson or De La Rue. The tight signature date ranges here are worth attention: three distinct signing dates clustered within the first three days of March 1955 under Elphinstone and Watson suggest a single controlled issue batch, possibly tied to a scheduled release rather than routine rolling production.

The transition to Craig and Watson signatures beginning 6 April reflects a change at the senior level mid-series, with Watson retained across both pairings.
