| Description du revers | The reverse presents a composite commemorative emblem occupying the central field. A helmeted Egyptian soldier in profile faces right, holding a flagstaff topped with a pennant; the Eagle of Saladin appears on his helmet. Behind the soldier, a large stylized crescent forms the background. To the left of the central device, wavy lines represent the Suez Canal crossing, while to the right, an upward-pointing arrow overlays a section of the Bar-Lev Line rendered as a brick fortification, symbolising the Egyptian breakthrough. An olive branch in low relief appears at the lower left. Along the lower arc of the field, the commemorative Arabic legend الذكرى العشرون لنصر أكتوبر (The 20th Anniversary of the October Victory) is inscribed. The design is enclosed by the same segmented decorative border as the obverse. |

Egypt's October War — the 1973 crossing of the Suez Canal — carried enormous political weight domestically, reframing the military humiliation of 1967 and providing Sadat's government with a narrative of restored national dignity. This commemorative was issued on the twentieth anniversary, by which point Sadat himself had been dead for over a decade, assassinated in 1981. The .720 fine silver content places it within Egypt's mid-tier commemorative program of the period — serviceable bullion value without the expense of the finer issues struck for export markets.
