Printed entirely in blue-green, the reverse centres on a large circular guilloche medallion enclosing a finely engraved portrait bust of an allegorical female figure wearing a diadem. Flanking the central medallion are two architectural vignettes: the Cape Town branch at left and the Johannesburg branch at right, each set within ornate scroll work. The bank title 'THE STANDARD BANK OF SOUTH AFRICA LIMITED' arcs around the central medallion, with the numeral '5' repeated in each upper corner. |
