| Beschrijving keerzijde | Octagonal reverse with a beaded outer border mirroring the obverse. A rope or cable border forms an inner circular frame enclosing the large numeral '5' at the centre of the field. The circular legend 'KLEINGELDERSATZMARKE' (small change substitute token) runs along the upper portion between the beaded and rope borders. Three five-pointed stars are evenly spaced at the lower portion of the rope border, serving as decorative separators. The composition is plain and functional, consistent with emergency coinage practice. |

Elbingerode's cement and lime works were central to the Harz region's industrial expansion in the late Imperial and Weimar periods, and like many large German industrial concerns, the firm issued notgeld tokens to manage small-denomination wage payments when official coinage grew scarce or impractical on-site. Iron was the material of necessity — wartime and postwar metal shortages made zinc, iron, and pressed paper the default for private token issues across German industry during this period.
