Three five-pointed stars are evenly spaced at the lower portion of the rope border, serving as decorative separators. Elbingerode's cement and lime works were central to the Harz region's industrial expansion in the late Imperial and Weimar periods, and like many large German industrial concerns, the firm issued notgeld tokens to manage small-denomination wage payments when official coinage grew scarce or impractical on-site. Iron was the material of necessity — wartime and postwar metal shortages made zinc, iron, and pressed paper the default for private token issues across German industry during this period.
