| 表面の説明 | Outer pearl border encircles the entire field, within which a twisted rope circle frames the central denomination numeral '5' in large raised relief. The issuer's legend 'BREMER LAGERH.-GES.' arcs across the upper portion of the annular field between the pearl rim and the rope border, while 'BREMEN' appears along the lower arc, each separated by a five-pointed star at either side. The design is utilitarian in character, consistent with German Notgeld emergency coinage of the early 1920s. |

The Bremer Lagerhaus-Gesellschaft was founded in 1877 to manage Bremen's expanding free-port warehouse infrastructure, and like many large industrial employers of the Wilhelmine and Weimar periods, it issued its own token currency for use within its facilities — a common workaround when small-denomination coinage was either scarce or impractical to handle in bulk payroll and canteen transactions. Iron was the default material for such issues during and after the First World War, when copper and nickel were requisitioned for the war effort and never fully returned to small-change production.
