Obverse description Outer pearl border follows the octagonal flan along its full perimeter. An inner pearl circle frames the central field, within which the large numeral '5' appears in bold relief. The issuer's legend 'C. BEHRENS' arcs across the upper portion of the annulus between the two pearl borders, while 'ALFELD' runs along the lower portion, each separated by a small six-pointed star serving as a stop. The overall design is plain and utilitarian, characteristic of German Notgeld small-change tokens of the World War I era.

Reverse description Outer pearl border follows the octagonal perimeter of the flan. An inner rope or cable circle encloses the central field, within which the large numeral '5' is struck in bold relief. The legend 'KLEINGELDERSATZMARKE' (small-change substitute token) arcs around the upper and lateral portions of the annulus between the pearl and rope borders. Three small six-pointed stars serve as stops at the lower portion of the annulus. The reverse design mirrors the austere, functional style of German wartime emergency coinage.
