Obverse description Central vignette of General Máximo Gómez within an oval guilloche frame, flanked by the numeral 5 in intaglio at right and the word CINCO in bold letterpress at left. The red circular seal of the General Treasury of the Republic appears at left, with red serial number printed twice on the note. The overall colour scheme combines black intaglio printing with blue and orange underprint, and the lower border bears the legend CERTIFICADO DE PLATA.
Obverse lettering REPUBLICA DE CUBA CINCO 5 PESOS MÁXIMO GÓMEZ ESTE CERTIFICADO, CUYO VALOR EN PLATA ACUÑADA ESTÁ DEPOSITADO EN LA TESORERÍA GENERAL DE LA REPÚBLICA, SERÁ ACEPTADO SIN LIMITACIÓN DE PAGO DE LOS IMPUESTOS DEL ESTADO LA PROVINCIA Y EL MUNICIPIO CERTIFICADO DE PLATA
