Obverse description The full coat of arms of Uruguay occupies the central field, featuring an oval shield quartered with scales of justice, a fortified hill, an ox, and a horse, surmounted by a radiant rising sun. The shield is flanked by crossed flags and cannons and encircled by a laurel and olive wreath. The circular legend REPUBLICA ORIENTAL DEL URUGUAY runs along the upper periphery within a beaded border. A single five-pointed star appears at the bottom of the field, below the arms.
