The subject's name BELISARIO DOMÍNGUEZ curves along the lower arc of the centre. The stainless steel outer ring carries the commemorative legend CENTENARIO DE LA REVOLUCIÓN along the upper arc and MÉXICO 2010 along the lower arc, flanked by two small ornamental dots. |

Belisario Domínguez was a Chiapan senator who, in October 1913, publicly denounced Victoriano Huerta's coup government and demanded Congress have Huerta removed from power. He was abducted and murdered by federal agents within days. Congress was dissolved immediately after, and Huerta ruled by decree until his own fall in 1914. Domínguez has been commemorated in Mexican civic life ever since — the Senate's highest honor bears his name — making his appearance on circulating coinage a natural extension of an already well-established official veneration.
