Obverse description The obverse carries a central text panel headed "Treasury Emergency Currency Certificate" and "BY AUTHORITY OF THE PRESIDENT OF THE COMMONWEALTH OF THE PHILIPPINES," with a redemption pledge by the Commonwealth Government of the Philippines at face value upon termination of emergency. The denomination FIVE PESOS appears at top and bottom, with the numeral 5 repeated in each corner, and a circular seal of the Commonwealth of the Philippines is affixed to the left. Three facsimile signatures of board members appear along the lower portion, with names and titles printed beneath each.
