| Beschrijving voorzijde | The obverse displays a cruciform arrangement of raised inscriptions set within curved cartouches, all enclosed by a rope or laurel wreath border running along the coin's rim. At the top cartouche appears the denomination '5.PS', flanked on the left and right by the royal monogram 'FER' and 'VII.' respectively, and at the bottom the date '1809' in a curved cartouche. The plain field between the cartouches is divided by four radial lines forming a cross. The overall design is primitive and utilitarian in character, reflecting the emergency coinage conditions of the Peninsular War period. |

| Beschrijving keerzijde | The reverse features the arms of Catalonia at center: a vertically striated shield bearing the four pallets of Aragon, surmounted by a curved royal crown with trefoil finials and a row of pearls along its base. The shield and crown are rendered in relatively crude but recognizable heraldic style, occupying the center of an otherwise plain field. The entire design is encircled by the same rope or twisted-cord border as the obverse. The legend 'PRINCIPADO DE CATALUÑA' appears along the periphery, identifying the issuing authority. The minimalist treatment of the field reflects the emergency nature of this wartime provincial issue. |
