The engraver's initials 'G.S.' appear discreetly on the truncation of the bust. The circular legend reads 'ALFONSO XII REY DE ESPAÑA' disposed around the upper and lateral fields, with the date '1875' flanked by two small six-pointed stars positioned along the lower exergual border.
