Obverse description Central field dominated by the elaborate tughra (imperial cipher) of Sultan Mahmud I, rendered in the characteristic Ottoman calligraphic style with interlacing loops and sweeping upward strokes. The tughra occupies the majority of the flan, executed in bold relief against a plain field. The design is typical of early 18th-century Ottoman provincial coinage, with the monogram serving as the primary identifier of imperial authority.
