| Obverse description | The Mexican national arms occupy the centre of an inner D-shaped panel, depicting an eagle facing left, perched on a nopal cactus growing from a rocky outcrop, devouring a serpent, with an oak-and-laurel wreath below. The legend ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS arcs along the upper portion of the inner panel, while the lower exergue bears the silver content inscription 1 ONZA DE PLATA LEY 0.999. The entire central composition is framed by an ornate pre-Columbian stepped-fret border that encircles the field, echoing Mesoamerican architectural motifs. |
