| Obverse description | Pale yellow-green guilloche underprint covers the entire face, with a dark purple letterpress surround incorporating circular denomination medallions bearing the numeral "5" at each corner. The issuer's name is set in Gothic blackletter script at the top, above the large ornate Fraktur denomination legend "Fünf Mark" at centre. A validity clause in smaller Roman type and the place-and-date line "Bochum, 16. Juni 1917." appear below, with a serial number panel at the foot; a pink oval control stamp is applied to the lower right. |
