| Beschrijving voorzijde | Printed in purple on cream paper, the note is enclosed within an elaborate guilloche border of interlocking oval and floral motifs. The issuer's title in Gothic Fraktur script heads the central panel, beneath which the serial number appears in red, followed by the denomination "Fünf Mark" in large bold Fraktur lettering flanked by numeral "5" at each side. Below the denomination, a block of legal text in Fraktur script sets out the conditions of acceptance, validity, and redemption, dated Aachen, 4. November 1918, with two circular official seals — one for the Oberbürgermeister and one for the Kreisausschuss — and two manuscript signatures at the foot. The printer's imprint of Aachener Verlags- und Druckerei-Ges. appears at the very bottom margin. |

Within the central panel, the issuer's name in Gothic Fraktur script appears at the top, the numeral "5" is placed at left and right margins, and a lightly printed imperial eagle vignette occupies the centre as an underprint. The denomination "Fünf Mark." is set in large Fraktur type in the lower portion of the panel, with no further text or ornamentation. |
