The denomination is rendered in large ornate Fraktur script reading 'Fünf Mark', with the numeral '5' set within a decorative cartouche at centre. A serial number box appears in the upper right corner. At lower centre, a small vignette of the Offenburg town gate flanked by the issuer's name in Roman capitals; below, the date 'Offenburg, 22.
