| Obverse description |
The national coat of arms of the Republic of Azerbaijan occupies the central field, depicted as a shield bearing an eight-pointed star enclosing a flame motif, symbolising the Zoroastrian fire heritage of the country. The shield is flanked at the base by an oak branch to the left and a wheat ear to the right, crossed beneath the shield. The legend AZƏRBAYCAN RESPUBLİKASI arcs along the upper periphery, while the denomination 5 MANAT appears in the lower exergue, both rendered in raised Latin characters against a polished field. |
| Reverse description |
The central field presents a detailed relief depiction of the historic Khodaafarin Bridge, a medieval multi-arched stone bridge of the Jabrayil district, rendered with fine engraving showing its characteristic rounded arches and stonework. Oriental plane trees (Platanus orientalis) rise behind the bridge in the upper field, their broad canopies rendered in sculptural relief. In the lower foreground, a sprig of Ophrys caucasica, a rare Caucasian orchid, is depicted alongside a stylised ribbon bearing the numeral 8 and the inscription NOYABR, commemorating the date of liberation. The district name CƏBRAYIL appears as a legend in the upper portion of the inner circle, and the patriotic slogan QARABAĞ AZƏRBAYCANDIR! arcs along the lower border, all within a geometric ornamental frame. |
Jabrayil is one of the districts recovered by Azerbaijani forces during the 44-day war of autumn 2020, and this coin belongs to the series the Central Bank issued to mark the recapture of territories held by Armenian forces since the early 1990s. The district's administrative center had been under occupation for nearly three decades before falling to Azerbaijani troops on October 9, 2020 — less than two weeks into the conflict.
