| Beschrijving voorzijde | Central field features the coat of arms of the Republic of Azerbaijan, depicting a sun-rayed eight-pointed star enclosing a flame device, flanked by oak and wheat branches at the base. The arms are rendered in high relief against a finely beaded inner border. The upper legend reads AZƏRBAYCAN RESPUBLİKASI (Republic of Azerbaijan) in Latin script, arching around the periphery. The date 2012 and the denomination 5 MANAT appear in the lower field, separated by raised dot stops. The overall design is executed in a clean, modern numismatic style consistent with Azerbaijani proof coinage. |

Issued to mark the twentieth anniversary of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan, founded in 1992 following the dissolution of the Soviet Union — a moment when the newly independent republic moved quickly to establish monetary infrastructure, introducing the manat to replace the Soviet ruble. Azerbaijan's transition was complicated by the ongoing Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, which strained state finances severely in those early years of the bank's existence.
