| 正面描述 | Central device features a stylized walking lion facing left, depicted in an archaic artistic style inspired by ancient Near Eastern imagery, its tail curled upward and mane rendered in bold relief. The State of Israel coat of arms — a menorah flanked by olive branches with the Hebrew legend ישראל — appears in the upper right field. The Arabic inscription إسرائيل is positioned to the left of the lion, while the Latin legend ISRAEL arcs along the upper rim and the Hebrew word ישראל appears in large characters along the lower field beneath a horizontal line. |

The 5 Lirot was already an anachronism by the time these pieces reached circulation. Israeli inflation through the late 1970s was accelerating toward the catastrophic levels that would eventually force a full currency reform — the replacement of the Lira with the Shekel in 1980. Coins of this denomination were essentially obsolete within months of issue, their purchasing power gutted before most examples had time to accumulate any wear.
KM#90 represents the final years of the Lira coinage system, struck just ahead of the monetary overhaul legislated under the Bank of Israel.
