Obverse description Central device features a stylized walking lion facing left, depicted in an archaic artistic style inspired by ancient Near Eastern imagery, its tail curled upward and mane rendered in bold relief. The State of Israel coat of arms — a menorah flanked by olive branches with the Hebrew legend ישראל — appears in the upper right field. The Arabic inscription إسرائيل is positioned to the left of the lion, while the Latin legend ISRAEL arcs along the upper rim and the Hebrew word ישראל appears in large characters along the lower field beneath a horizontal line.
