| Descrizione del dritto | Central field dominated by the elaborately calligraphed tughra of Sultan Murad V, rendered in raised relief with characteristic sweeping vertical strokes and looped bow. Beneath the tughra appears the Arabic regnal year numeral. The design is framed by an ornamental border of alternating crescent moons and six-pointed stars arranged in a scalloped pattern, with a further inner ring of reeded denticles completing the decorative surround. |

Murad V ruled for just 93 days in 1876 before being deposed on grounds of mental incapacity — the shortest reign in Ottoman history to produce a coinage. His removal was engineered largely by Midhat Pasha, the architect of the first Ottoman constitution, who then placed Abdülhamid II on the throne expecting a more pliable sultan. He was wrong on that count.
KM#711 is consequently one of the scarcer Ottoman silver types by reign, with production cut off before any meaningful quantity entered circulation.
