| Beschrijving voorzijde | Central field dominated by the elaborate calligraphic tughra of Sultan Mehmed V (Reshad), rendered in fine relief with characteristically intricate Ottoman penmanship. To the upper right of the tughra appears the Arabic inscription denoting regnal year 2 (سنة ٢ رشاد). The design is framed by a decorative border of alternating crescent and star motifs encircling the field, with an inner beaded border and an outer reeded rim. The overall composition reflects the established aesthetic of late Ottoman silver coinage. |

| Aanvullende informatie |
Mehmed V was a ceremonially constrained sultan — constitutional reforms following the 1908 Young Turk Revolution had stripped the throne of meaningful executive power before he even acceded. Coins issued in his name were minted under a government he did not control. The Edirne mint was one of the empire's secondary facilities, and output there was far smaller than Constantinople's, making provincial-mint survivors appreciably scarcer than the type's broader mintage figures suggest.
