Týn nad Vltavou issued emergency lead coinage in 1799 under the pressures of the French Revolutionary Wars, when Habsburg supply lines were sufficiently disrupted to force local authorities into improvised monetary solutions. Siege coinages of this type were struck on whatever metal was available — lead being the least desirable but most accessible option — and were explicitly intended as temporary instruments redeemable once normal circulation resumed.
Few survived. Lead corrodes aggressively, and most examples were either redeemed and melted or simply lost to oxidation over two centuries.
