| Reverse description | The reverse is dominated by elaborate arabesque and foliate scrollwork filling the entire field, arranged in sinuous interlacing vine patterns characteristic of Kutch princely silver coinage. Three horizontal panels of Arabic script are set centrally within the decorative foliage: the uppermost panel bears the name of Queen Victoria in Arabic, the middle panel carries the title 'Empress of India' in Arabic, and the lower panel displays the Christian Era (Common Era) year in Eastern Arabic numerals. A beaded border runs along the inner rim of the coin. |

Khengarji III ruled Kutch from 1876 under a cloud of British oversight — the state had been under a political agent since 1819, and every significant administrative decision required Residency approval. The 5 Kori was the principal silver denomination of the Kutch monetary system, and issues struck under Victoria's name reflect the formal subordination of princely coinage to imperial authority following the 1858 transfer of power from the East India Company to the Crown.
Y#37.4 denotes a specific die variety within a run that saw several recutting episodes across the 1881–1886 window.
