正面描述 The left half of the note is occupied by a letterpress vignette of Veste Liechtenstein castle, captioned 'VESTE LIECHTENSTEIN' at upper left, rendered in a fine line-engraved style set within a plain rectangular frame. The right half carries the issuer heading 'Gemeinde Hinterbrühl.' in bold blackletter script, followed by the denomination text 'Gutschein über 5 Heller.' in large Gothic typeface. Below the denomination, a redemption clause in smaller blackletter text states the municipality's liability and the redemption date of 31 August 1920, with printed facsimile signatures of the Bürgermeister (Sittner), Vize-Bürgermeister (Berghold), and Finanzreferent (Reiter); a dotted border frames the entire note.

背面描述 The reverse is printed in brown ink and carries a grid of numbered coupon-style fields, each cell indicating a weekly allocation of 'ganzer Zimmerbrand' (full room fuel) with sequential coupon numbers ranging from 49 to 73 and corresponding date ranges in day/month format. A left-hand column bears partially visible administrative text referencing 'Obmann', 'Mitglied', 'hlenverkaufsstelle', and a numbered line reading 'Nr.', with a lower note reading 'ein Ersatz!'; the overall layout follows a utilitarian letterpress format typical of Austrian wartime Notgeld.

备注

Hinterbrühl is a small market town in Lower Austria best known as the site of the Seegrotte, a flooded gypsum mine that later served as a Heinkel He 162 jet aircraft assembly facility under Nazi forced labor. This note has nothing to do with any of that — it predates the Second World War entirely and belongs to the vast wave of Austrian municipal emergency currency, Notgeld, issued after the First World War when small-denomination coinage vanished from circulation almost entirely.

Three signatories authenticate the note: the Bürgermeister, his deputy, and the finance officer — unusually complete for a village issue of this denomination.
