The Arabic word غروش (girush/piastres) is inscribed in large cursive script occupying the lower portion of the field. A curved legend along the upper arc reads PIASTRES 5 SYRIENNES in Latin characters. The word ESSAI appears in small capitals near the lower right of the field, identifying this piece as a pattern strike. The scalloped rim mirrors that of the obverse. |
