| Obverse description | Bare-headed right-facing effigy of Prince Rainier III of Monaco, rendered in high relief with finely detailed hair and a short moustache, occupying the majority of the coin's field. The engraver's signature R. JOLY appears in small letters beneath the portrait. The circular legend RAINIER III - PRINCE DE MONACO runs along the upper periphery, while the date 1971 is prominently placed in the lower field.
