Obverse description Bare-headed right-facing effigy of Prince Rainier III of Monaco, rendered in high relief with finely detailed hair and a short moustache, occupying the majority of the coin's field. The engraver's signature R. JOLY appears in small letters beneath the portrait. The circular legend RAINIER III - PRINCE DE MONACO runs along the upper periphery, while the date 1971 is prominently placed in the lower field. The overall treatment is characteristic of the refined medallic style employed by the Monnaie de Paris.
