The denomination 5 FR. is inscribed at the top of the field, flanked on the left by the commemorative legend LAUPEN and on the right by the Roman numeral date MCCCXXXIX, referencing the 600th anniversary of the Battle of Laupen in 1339. The Gregorian year 1939 appears in the exergue below the cross, with the Bern mint mark B incused immediately beneath it. |
