| 正面铭文 | JEAN GRAND-DUC DE LUXEMBOURG J.N.LEFÈVRE |
| 背面描述 | The face value and mint year are displayed in two horizontal lines at the centre of the field, with the denomination rendered as '5F' above the four-digit year. Two symmetrically arranged oak branches flank the central inscription, and a royal crown surmounts the composition, lending the design a heraldic character. |

Luxembourg's 5 franc piece from this period was issued under Grand Duke Jean, who had acceded to the throne in 1964 following the abdication of his mother, Grand Duchess Charlotte, after 45 years of reign. The country was deep into its postwar industrial expansion, with the steel sector — then accounting for a significant share of GDP — driving enough economic activity that coinage demand remained steady throughout the series run.
The KM#56 type replaced the earlier Jean coinage in a modest redesign cycle. Nothing extraordinary distinguishes the issue metallurgically or politically, but the decade-long production span across multiple die pairs means minor striking variations exist within the series.
