Aanvullende informatie

Luxembourg's 5 franc piece from this period was issued under Grand Duke Jean, who had acceded to the throne in 1964 following the abdication of his mother, Grand Duchess Charlotte, after 45 years of reign. The country was deep into its postwar industrial expansion, with the steel sector — then accounting for a significant share of GDP — driving enough economic activity that coinage demand remained steady throughout the series run.

The KM#56 type replaced the earlier Jean coinage in a modest redesign cycle. Nothing extraordinary distinguishes the issue metallurgically or politically, but the decade-long production span across multiple die pairs means minor striking variations exist within the series.
