| Beschrijving keerzijde | A frontal zebu (Malagasy humped cattle) head is prominently displayed in the centre of the field, its wide upswept horns framing the denomination numeral 5 and the legend FRANCS above. To the left of the zebu head stands a stalk of rice, and to the right a sprig of ravinala or similar tropical plant, both rendered in fine relief.
