| Obverse description | A finely rendered poinsettia (Euphorbia pulcherrima) in full bloom occupies the central field, depicted in high relief with detailed petals radiating from a small floral centre. The circular legend FAMOAHAMBOLANNY REPOBLIKA MALAGASY runs along the upper periphery, while the date 1966 appears in the lower exergue. The design is clean and naturalistic, reflecting the engraving style of the Monnaie de Paris. The word ESSAI does not appear on this face. |
