Beschrijving voorzijde The central field bears a three-line Arabic inscription within an ornate geometric cartouche, reading the name and titles of Ahmad Pasha Bey of Tunisia above the denomination '5 Francs' and the Hijri date 1353. The cartouche is framed by a diamond-and-dot border characteristic of French Protectorate-era Tunisian coinage. Two symmetrically arranged olive branches rise from the base, their fronds curving outward to flank the inscription on either side. The Hijri date 1353 is prominently positioned at the foot of the design. The overall composition reflects the Arabesque decorative tradition applied to Tunisian colonial-period issues.

Beschrijving keerzijde A raised central disk within a beaded inner circle bears the inscriptions 'TUNISIE', the large numeral '5', and 'FRANCS' in Roman capitals, with the Gregorian year '1934' below and the word 'ESSAI' in smaller letters beneath it, denoting the essai (pattern) issue. The inner circle is surrounded by an elaborate scrollwork border of interlacing arabesques, with six evenly spaced five-pointed stars distributed around the periphery. The Monnaie de Paris cornucopia and wing privy marks appear within the design, attributing the work to engraver Lucien Georges Bazor. The outermost rim is defined by a finely reeded border.
