Obverse description Black intaglio print on white paper. A central oval vignette contains a bust portrait of Grand Duchess Charlotte wearing a tiara and pearl necklace, set within an elaborate guilloche frame flanked by large numeral "5" rosettes at left and right. The title "GRAND-DUCHÉ DE LUXEMBOURG" appears at the top, with "CINQ FRANCS" in a decorative panel at the bottom, below which a two-line anti-counterfeiting warning legend is inscribed; the Luxembourg State arms appear at lower left, and the imprint "AMERICAN BANK NOTE COMPANY" is printed at the foot of the note.
