| Beschrijving voorzijde | Central field features the numeral '5' surrounded by a radial geometric framework displaying the heraldic shields of all nine Austrian federal states, each occupying a segment between the radiating lines. The nine-sided coin blank itself reflects the nine provinces theme. The circular legend along the outer border reads 'REPUBLIK ÖSTERREICH' at the top and '· EURO ·' at the bottom, all in incuse Latin lettering conforming to the nonagonal shape of the flan. |

Issued ahead of the 2013 FIS Alpine World Ski Championships held in Schladming, a Styrian town that had previously hosted the event in 1982. Austria released two versions of this commemorative: this .800 fine silver piece alongside a copper-zinc "special uncirculated" base-metal edition — an unusual dual-format release that reflected the mint's push to broaden commemorative accessibility without undermining collector demand for the silver issue.
