Issued ahead of the 2013 FIS Alpine World Ski Championships held in Schladming, a Styrian town that had previously hosted the event in 1982. Austria released two versions of this commemorative: this .800 fine silver piece alongside a copper-zinc "special uncirculated" base-metal edition — an unusual dual-format release that reflected the mint's push to broaden commemorative accessibility without undermining collector demand for the silver issue.
