Movie money — also called prop money or film money — occupies a peculiar legal grey zone in most jurisdictions. In the European Union, Regulation (EC) No 2182/2004 governs euro reproductions, requiring that prop notes be clearly marked "SPECIMEN" or "PROP COPY," printed one-sided only, or differ substantially in size from genuine notes. This piece, reproducing the Europa series design that wouldn't officially circulate until 2013, raises an immediate question: it predates the genuine note by two years, which suggests it was produced either for pre-release promotional use or for film and television production ahead of the ECB's phased rollout.
The watermark inclusion is worth noting — most compliant prop euros deliberately omit security features entirely.
