Liberia has used commemorative silver issues as a revenue stream since the 1970s, contracting production almost entirely to foreign mints — primarily in Germany and China — rather than any domestic facility. These pieces were never intended for circulation and exist purely as bullion-adjacent collectibles sold through international distributors.
The 2010 lunar series aligns with the Chinese calendar year of the Tiger, which ran from February 14, 2010 to February 2, 2011. Liberia's legal tender status on such issues is nominal; no Liberian government monetary function attaches to them.
