Beschrijving voorzijde The Republic of Palau coat of arms occupies the central field within an ornate shield, depicting Neptune seated and holding a trident, accompanied by a mermaid to his right and a treasure chest to his left amid stylized ocean waves. A crescent moon and a sun symbol appear above the central figures within the shield. A traditional outrigger canoe with a paddler is rendered in high relief above the shield. Eight stars are arranged symmetrically along both sides of the coin's field. The circular legend 'REPUBLIC OF PALAU' arcs along the upper rim, the text 'RAINBOW'S END' appears within the lower portion of the shield, and the denomination '5$' is inscribed in the lower field below the shield.

Aanvullende informatie

Palau's ongoing lunar series is produced under a licensing arrangement typical of small Pacific island states whose minting programs exist almost entirely for the collector market — the islands have no meaningful circulation coinage of their own. The 2017 rooster issue coincided with the Chinese lunar new year cycle's tenth sign, and the series draws its commercial logic almost entirely from diaspora collectors in Southeast Asia and mainland China.

KM#772.1 suggests a die variant exists within this type — worth confirming against the companion listing before cataloging duplicates.
