| Reverse description | A naturalistically rendered, full-color image of a young piglet is depicted seated centrally in the field, resting on straw, facing the viewer in a charming and lifelike manner. To the left of the piglet, the Chinese character for pig (豬) is inscribed in the field. The border is composed of an ornate decorative ring featuring alternating geometric motifs in a classical Chinese style. The legend YEAR OF THE PIG curves along the upper rim within the decorative border, and the date 2019 appears at the bottom of the field. |

Palau has operated a prolific bullion and commemorative program since the 1990s, contracting most production to the Bavarian State Mint in Munich and the Polish Mint in Warsaw. The Lunar series to which this piece belongs targets the Southeast Asian collector market, where demand for pig-year issues spikes sharply in the months preceding the relevant new year — in this case, the Year of the Pig beginning February 5, 2019.
