Beschrijving voorzijde The state arms of Singapore occupy the centre of the aluminium-bronze field, rendered in fine relief. The arms feature a crescent moon and five stars above a lion and tiger flanking a shield, with a below ribbon. The date 2000 appears in the exergue beneath the emblem. The surrounding legend reads SINGAPORE in English along the upper arc, with the country name repeated in Tamil, Chinese, and Malay in the respective quadrants of the field, all within the scalloped copper-nickel ring.

Aanvullende informatie

Issued to mark Singapore's entry into 2000, this coin reflects the city-state's deliberate policy of using commemorative circulation coinage as soft-power currency — a practice the Monetary Authority had refined through the 1990s. The bimetallic format was already established in Singapore's regular coinage by this point, making the choice here functional rather than novel. Production figures were modest enough that bank-sealed rolls are now more commonly encountered than loose circulated examples.
