Beschrijving voorzijde Central field features the Coat of Arms of the Republic of Palau, depicting a shield bearing the figure of a sea god holding a trident accompanied by a mermaid amid ocean waves, with a crescent moon and star above, the shield flanked by decorative floral and figural supporters. A traditional outrigger canoe appears above the shield. The legend REPUBLIC OF PALAU arcs along the upper rim, with eight small six-pointed stars arranged symmetrically in the field to either side of the shield. The motto RAINBOW'S END appears on a scroll at the base of the shield, and the denomination 5$ is inscribed in the lower field.

Aanvullende informatie

Palau has issued commemorative silver under its own authority since 1992, despite having no independent monetary system — the US dollar circulates as legal tender. This piece marks the twentieth anniversary of the Berlin Wall's fall on November 9, 1989, an event triggered in part by an East German spokesman misreading a press release live on television, announcing immediate border openings that were not yet intended to take effect.
