| 表面の説明 | Central field depicts a kayaker in dynamic forward motion, rendered in low relief, seated within a narrow kayak and wielding a double-bladed paddle. Horizontal lines in the lower field stylistically represent water. In the upper left, the inscription 'Montréal 1976' appears in two lines, while to the upper right the bilingual legend 'Olympiade XXI Olympiad' is inscribed in two lines beneath the official Montreal 1976 Olympic Games emblem. The denomination '5 Dollars' is inscribed along the lower rim. |

One of four kayaking-themed denominations struck for the Montreal Games, this issue belongs to the Royal Canadian Mint's ambitious 28-coin Olympic program — the largest commemorative series Canada had undertaken to that point. Financing was unconventional: the coins were sold through a subscription system intended to offset construction costs for Olympic venues, a funding mechanism that ultimately fell well short of covering Montreal's catastrophic budget overruns. The city carried Olympic debt until 2006.
The KM#PT110.1 pattern designation separates this from the circulation issue — struck as a die trial or presentation piece rather than for public sale through the subscription program.
