The technique originated in automotive and firearms finishing before migrating into numismatics, where a handful of specialist mints — most notably Scottsdale Mint, which has produced work for Barbados — adopted it for wildlife issues.
The $5 denomination places this outside Barbados's circulating series entirely. It exists solely for the collector market.
