Beschrijving voorzijde The obverse displays the coat of arms of the Republic of Palau at center, depicting a shield bearing the figure of Neptune holding a trident, accompanied by a mermaid, with a traditional outrigger canoe above the shield. The arms are flanked by decorative floral and foliate ornamentation. Eight five-pointed stars are arranged in an arc around the inner field. The legend REPUBLIC OF PALAU curves along the upper periphery, with the denomination 5$ inscribed at the bottom of the field, and the inscription RAINBOW'S END appears below the shield.

Aanvullende informatie

Palau has issued commemorative silver in volume since the 1990s, largely through licensing arrangements with European minting houses — this piece was almost certainly struck by B.H. Mayer's Kunstprägeanstalt in Munich, which handled the bulk of Palau's FIFA-licensed output ahead of the 2014 Brazil tournament cycle. The two-year lead time on issues like this was standard practice for World Cup licensing, with coins entering the collector market well before host-country infrastructure was even completed.
